Who is responsible to pay for expenditure of a person who is poor and unable to work? The Grand Ayatollah Safi’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Safi issued a Fatwa regarding the responsibility of paying the expenditure for a person who is poor and unable to work.

If a person is poor and unable to work, his father must pay for his expenditure, and if he has no father, or the father cannot pay, if he has no children, his paternal grandfather must pay for him. If he has no paternal grandfather, or he cannot pay, his mother must pay, and if he has no mother or she cannot pay, his paternal grandmother and maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather must pay together. If he has no maternal grandmother and paternal grandmother, or they cannot pay, if the maternal grandfather is able, must pay for his expenditure.
