India’s oil imports rise in July

Shafaqna English- A leading trade association reported on Thursday(13 Aug 2026) that India’s edible oil imports surged to their highest level in ten months during July, driven by refiners who accelerated their purchases of palm oil and soyoil in order to rebuild inventories ahead of the upcoming festival season.

The rise in demand from the world’s largest buyer of vegetable oils is expected to assist leading producers—Indonesia, Malaysia, and Argentina—in reducing their accumulated stockpiles while simultaneously providing support for benchmark palm oil and soyoil futures prices.
