Shafaqna English– Norway’s royal palace announced that King Harald, who had reigned for more than three decades and emerged from the shadow of his beloved and extroverted father to establish himself as a reformist monarch, passed away on Friday(28 Aug 2026) at the age of 89. His death comes at a time when the Norwegian royal family is grappling with multiple crises.
In a notice published on its website, the Norwegian royal palace stated: “King Harald passed away peacefully at Oslo University Hospital on Friday 28 August, at 06:35 local time (04:35 GMT).”
