His comments came in response to recent media reports that had connected the Brazilian midfielder with a potential transfer to Arsenal.
According to British media reports that surfaced on Wednesday(5 Aug 2026), Arsenal had supposedly agreed to a £75 million ($100 million) deal to acquire the services of the 28-year-old midfielder from Newcastle United.
To date, neither Arsenal nor Newcastle United have officially confirmed the transfer as reported in the media, nor have they responded to inquiries made by Reuters seeking their official position on the matter.
