Shafaqna English– Saturday(15 Aug 2026) saw a Vietnam Airlines aircraft, operating a scheduled service from Munich to Hanoi, abort its journey and return to the Bavarian airport shortly after departure. The decision to turn back was attributed to unspecified technical problems that arose during the initial climb phase, according to confirmations provided by both the carrier and the airport’s operational management.
The crew of the Boeing 787 executed a fuel-dumping procedure in the sky, circling the Munich area for over two hours to bring the aircraft’s weight down to acceptable levels for a safe landing. The decision to burn fuel in this manner was reportedly linked to an earlier incident during takeoff, in which the plane was said to have travelled beyond the end of the runway before becoming airborne — a situation that may have caused damage to the tires or undercarriage.
