Shafaqna English– On Tuesday(18 Aug 2026), the U.S. dollar remained stuck near its lowest levels in several months against a basket of major currencies, as market participants scaled back their forecasts for any imminent monetary policy tightening by the Federal Reserve. However, the fragile state of investor sentiment was further aggravated by the looming risk of an intensified conflict in the Middle East, which continued to cast a shadow over global financial markets.
The common currency traded at $1.1581 during the Asian morning, not far off Monday’s two-month high of $1.1614. Similarly, the British pound was priced at $1.3548, hovering just beneath the three-month peak it had touched in the prior trading day. These levels indicated that both the euro and sterling were benefiting from the dollar’s broad-based weakness, despite the uncertain geopolitical climate.
