Shafaqna English– Official data published on Tuesday(18 Aug 2026) indicated that Britain’s labour market experienced a further cooling during the second quarter of the year, characterized by a notable deceleration in private-sector wage growth and the lowest number of job vacancies recorded in more than five years.
Regular pay in the private sector—a key metric closely monitored by the Bank of England as an indicator of domestic inflationary pressures—grew by an annualized rate of 2.8% over the three-month period ending in June. This marked the lowest growth rate since the three-month span through October 2020, underscoring the diminishing wage momentum across the economy.
