Russia moves to stabilize domestic fuel market

Shafaqna English– On Saturday(29 Aug 2026), the Russian government declared that its temporary ban on diesel exports, which was initially set to expire earlier, has now been officially extended. The new deadline for the restriction is set for September 30, marking a continued effort to regulate outbound shipments of the fuel.

The government further clarified in its official statement that the export ban is not limited solely to diesel. It also encompasses marine fuel and gas oil products that are transported by Russian exporters, thereby broadening the reach of the restriction to cover a wider category of refined petroleum derivatives.

In explaining its actions, the government said the measures are intended to support the stabilization of the domestic fuel market, suggesting that the restrictions are a direct response to concerns about supply shortages or excessive price volatility in the local fuel sector.
