Shafaqna English– In an official announcement made on Friday, FIFA confirmed that Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has been handed a 10-match ban for his involvement in the post-match altercation that occurred after Argentina’s defeat to Spain in the World Cup final.
Additionally, his compatriot Nahuel Molina was also sanctioned with a seven-game suspension, as the governing body took a firm stance against the unsportsmanlike conduct that marred the conclusion of the showpiece event.
As the final whistle blew to signal Spain’s victory in the World Cup final, a tense situation escalated when Argentina midfielder Paredes physically confronted Spain’s Gavi, pushing him aggressively to the ground.
This flashpoint coincided with the Spanish substitutes rushing onto the field to celebrate their triumph, and the chaotic melee that followed prompted FIFA to review the incident and subsequently impose sanctions on the Argentine players involved.
