Shafaqna English– Paris Brunner, the Monaco striker, scored once in each half to guide his side to a 2-0 victory over visiting Olympique de Marseille. The result propelled Monaco to the summit of the Ligue 1 standings, making them the sole team to have secured maximum points from their opening two fixtures of the season.
Monaco had entered the match following a narrow 1-0 away victory over Le Havre in their season opener. They broke the deadlock early in the 13th minute when Marseille’s defenders were caught static, allowing Brunner to rise between two markers and powerfully head home a pinpoint cross from Aleksandr Golovin.
