Swiss bankers united in extending zero‑rate stance

Shafaqna English– According to a Swiss Bankers Association survey, Swiss bankers foresee the SNB holding its benchmark rate at zero percent through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.

While all respondents agree on no change for this year, 60% expect the pause to continue through next year as well. The remaining 40%, however, anticipate a rate hike in 2027—mostly to 0.25%, with one outlier predicting 0.5%.

The upcoming monetary policy announcement on September 24 is almost universally expected (97% market probability) to keep rates steady, with markets pricing the first potential move—a 25‑basis‑point rise to 0.25%—around June next year.
