Canadian gas, new target for Middle East

Shafaqna English- The head of the firm that is the majority owner of Canada’s Woodfibre LNG project has stated that buyers located in the Middle East are expressing interest in securing Canadian liquefied natural gas supplies. They view this as a strategic move to protect themselves from the risks associated with geopolitical conflicts and regional tensions.

In an interview, Ratnesh Bedi, who serves as president of Pacific Energy – a Singapore-based firm that holds a 70% ownership interest in the Woodfibre project – explained that his company has been receiving inquiries from potential buyers in the Middle East. This is occurring despite the fact that the entire annual production capacity of the project, which amounts to 2.1 million tonnes, has already been fully allocated to BP through long-term contracts.
