Norway government’s move to boost wind energy

Shafaqna English- Amid increasing apprehension that a protracted and slow expansion of wind power capacity over the past several years could have a negative impact on the nation’s economy, Norway’s government put forward a series of measures on Friday(7 Aug 2026) designed to streamline the permit process and reduce administrative red tape for new onshore wind projects and related grid connections.

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere announced during a press conference that the Labour Party-led government is targeting a 50% reduction in the time required for grid development. This will be achieved by streamlining the application procedures and eliminating unnecessary bureaucratic barriers that have historically delayed progress.
