Shafaqna English- China’s official statement on Monday(10 Aug 2026) confirmed that a Long March 7A rocket, carrying the ChinaSat-4B satellite, failed to complete its mission following a technical malfunction that occurred after its launch from the Wenchang spaceport on Hainan Island, a site that has become one of China’s most important launch facilities due to its proximity to the equator and its role in supporting both civilian and military space objectives.
The anomaly, which took place during the ascent phase, has raised concerns among analysts regarding the performance of China’s next-generation rocket systems, particularly as the country continues to expand its presence in the global commercial launch market.
State news agency Xinhua confirmed that the Long March 7A rocket was launched from Hainan at 8:02 PM local time, but the mission did not achieve its intended objective.
The agency added that the precise cause of the failure remains unknown at this stage, and that a thorough investigation involving technical experts and senior space officials is currently underway to determine whether the anomaly stemmed from a propulsion system issue, a guidance error, or another systemic problem within the launch vehicle.
