Shafaqna English- On Wednesday(12 Aug 2026), South Korea revealed an ambitious technology plan focused on seven major projects, covering areas such as nuclear energy, quantum computing, space exploration, and biotechnology. The country is aiming to find new drivers of economic growth that go beyond its current strengths in semiconductors and AI.
Announced at a Blue House meeting chaired by President Lee Jae Myung, the “Seven Major SEED” initiative includes targets such as deploying domestically built small modular reactors commercially by 2035, landing on the moon by 2030, developing a homegrown 100-qubit quantum computer by 2029, and bringing brain-computer interface products to market by 2035.
