Oil steady with new US sanctions on Iran

Shafaqna English– Following a sharp decline of over 2% on Monday, crude prices remained largely unchanged on Tuesday(25 Aug 2026), with market participants carefully weighing the potential repercussions of the United States’ newly tightened secondary sanctions targeting the Iranian oil sector.

By 01:04 GMT, Brent futures had edged 9 cents lower (a marginal 0.1% decline) to settle at $92.16 per barrel, whereas WTI crude recorded a slight uptick of just one cent, reaching $85.02 a barrel—reflecting a muted and divided session between the two benchmarks.
