Shafaqna English- A representative from the labour union confirmed on Sunday(9 Aug 2026) that the strike at BHP’s Port Hedland operations had gained further momentum, with more employees walking off the job. This industrial action represents the most substantial labour stoppage at the world-renowned iron-ore shipping hub in twenty-five years, signalling a major breakdown in negotiations between the company and its workers.
The second day of the planned 48-hour stoppage saw around 100 workers lay down their tools at 5:30 a.m. local time at the world’s premier iron-ore export facility. With these new additions, the total number of employees involved in the strike reached an estimated 150 individuals, the union representative confirmed, indicating growing solidarity among the workforce.
