Shafaqna English- An Al Jazeera investigation has traced the rapid spread of an anti-Muslim campaign on X following Abdul El-Sayed’s victory in Michigan in the Democratic primary for a US Senate seat.
It revealed that the seemingly coordinated campaign against El-Sayed, whose win is viewed as a setback for pro-Israel lobbying groups like AIPAC, aimed to frame his election as a religious and ideological threat to the United States. The attacks started with accounts removing the phrase “inshallah,” meaning “God willing,” from El-Sayed’s election night speech. This phrase was used to convey that he hoped his victory demonstrated that money alone does not determine election outcomes in the US.
