Shafaqna English- Women in Afghanistan are concerned that the restrictions placed on their rights and freedoms in society may become normalized.
Approaching the fifth anniversary of Taliban rule, several women and girls in Afghanistan say that the restrictions and deprivations imposed by the group on their education, work and social presence are gradually becoming normalized, amid diminishing international pressure and attention. They add that a situation which was initially seen as unacceptable and temporary has now become part of women’s daily lives. According to them, the continuation of this trend could turn the exclusion of women from society into an accepted reality in Afghanistan.
