Argentina’s inflation edges up slightly

Shafaqna English– Official figures from Argentina’s National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), published on Thursday(13 Aug 2026), revealed that the monthly inflation rate registered 2.1% in July. This outcome marks a slight rise from June’s level.

Moreover, the year-over-year inflation metric also experienced a minor pickup, suggesting that the underlying inflationary dynamics in the Argentine economy remain somewhat persistent despite recent stabilization efforts.

The July inflation print of 2.1% reflects an increase from June’s 1.9% rate and also came in slightly above the consensus forecast of 2.0% among market analysts.

This marginal upside surprise may raise questions about the pace of disinflation and whether the central bank’s monetary policy is sufficiently restrictive to bring inflation down more decisively in the coming months.
