UNAMA calls for international engagement & lifting restrictions on Women in Afghanistan

Shafaqna English- On the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power, UNAMA has emphasized the need for continued principled and practical international engagement with Afghanistan to lift restrictions on AfghanWomen.

Georgette Gagnon, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Officer-in-Charge of UNAMA, said: “Lasting peace and prosperity depend on more than the absence of conflict. Afghanistan’s future depends on building a society where the rights and potential of all Afghans are realized, and institutions are accountable and responsible.”
