Inflation outlook for Türkiye revised upward

Shafaqna English– In a Thursday(13 Aug 2026) announcement, Fatih Karahan, the Governor of Türkiye’s central bank, revealed that the institution had revised its year-end 2026 inflation projection upward to 28%, a 2-percentage-point increase from the previous 26% estimate. However, the bank chose to maintain its interim inflation target for the same December 2026 horizon unchanged at 24%, signaling a cautious approach to near-term price stability goals.

During his presentation of the central bank’s quarterly inflation report in Istanbul, Karahan elaborated that the bank had also held its interim inflation target for the end of 2027 unchanged at 15%. Furthermore, he confirmed that the interim target for the conclusion of 2028 remained pegged at 9%, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to its medium-term disinflation path over the coming years.
