Japan’s economy grows less than expected

Shafaqna English– Japan’s economy didn’t grow as fast as people thought it would during April, May, and June. The main reasons were that families spent less money and companies cut back on their investments. Most experts believe these are short-term problems that won’t last long. But they also say the ongoing war in Iran is making everyone nervous about what might happen next.

New numbers from the Japanese government came out on Monday(17 Aug 2026). They showed that the economy grew by 1.1% per year between April and June. This was a disappointment because experts had hoped for 2.0% growth. It was also slower than the 1.9% growth from January to March. In short, Japan’s economy is slowing down.
