Gold prices edged slightly lower

Shafaqna English– Having surged to a three-month peak earlier on Tuesday(25 Aug 2026), gold subsequently encountered selling pressure and retreated from those highs.

This reversal unfolded as markets rapidly reprioritized their focal points, with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) data – the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge – and Chair Warsh’s forthcoming remarks on economic outlook and rates now seen as the primary near-term drivers for bullion.

In the cash market, gold slipped 0.2% to $4,640.39 per ounce, surrendering a portion of its earlier daily gains. By contrast, December futures contracts settled unchanged at $4,696.00, implying that futures traders have largely priced in the upcoming inflation data and Warsh’s speech, and are now awaiting fresh catalysts to adjust their positions.
