Shafaqna English– On Sunday(30 Aug 2026), rescue teams in Nepal recommenced their efforts to locate and extract hydropower employees who are believed to be trapped inside tunnel networks that have been inundated with debris carried by floodwaters.
The operation had been temporarily suspended due to adverse weather conditions, including persistent rainfall and rapidly swelling river levels, which had rendered the rescue sites unsafe and inaccessible for a period.
The search-and-rescue effort has now reached its fifth consecutive day since the catastrophic floods swept through the region, with emergency crews working tirelessly amid treacherous terrain and persistent environmental hazards at the incident sites.
