Shafaqna English- The World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan announced its support for expanding healthcare services in the country’s remote regions. The organization stated in a post on X on Sunday, August 30, that it is providing vital primary healthcare in these areas with assistance from the Italian government. The UN agency mentioned that Italy’s support helps health workers deliver timely treatment, follow-up care, and essential health advice to those who might otherwise have difficulty accessing healthcare. “Access to quality primary health care is essential to protect the health and well-being of communities, particularly in remote areas where distance can delay treatment and turn manageable conditions into serious complications,” said WHO Representative in Afghanistan Dr Edwin Ceniza Salvador. Meanwhile, following the Taliban’s return to power, Afghanistan’s healthcare system has faced challenges, with reports of people in various regions lacking access to healthcare services.
