Their primary objective is to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels, and this collective push is injecting renewed momentum into the global shift toward cleaner energy systems.
Because the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively shut down, disrupting roughly one-fifth of global petroleum and liquefied natural gas shipments, a wide range of governments – spanning from South Korea and Thailand to the European Union member states – have formally committed to allocating additional budgetary resources toward renewable energy projects.
