Shafaqna English– According to scientists, climate change is increasingly creating environmental circumstances in which the stability of high-altitude rock formations and glacial ice is compromised. This instability, in turn, raises the likelihood of catastrophic events — including the recent Himalayan flooding that occurred this week along the Nepal-Tibet border, which has already claimed 165 lives.
Officials reported on Thursday(27 Aug 2026) that the list of missing individuals now includes approximately 1,500 people, among whom at least 800 are foreigners. The catastrophic chain of events was set in motion the previous day, when a massive wall composed of mud and rock gave way and crashed into a Himalayan river, generating torrential floods that inundated populated areas and valley floors with overwhelming force.
