Mecca museum displays rare Quranic page

Shafaqna English- The Holy Quran Museum in the Hira Cultural District in Mecca is displaying a rare Quranic manuscript: a page from a Quran dating to the third century AH.

The displayed manuscript includes part of Surah Maryam, written on parchment in red ink. The text has neither vowel marks nor diacritical dots, highlighting a characteristic of early Quranic writing.

The manuscript lets museum visitors learn about the development of Qur’anic writing and the methods used to record the Quran in the early Islamic centuries.
