These efforts follow the catastrophic Himalayan flood that occurred the previous week.
The catastrophic event, described as unprecedented in its composition – combining frozen water, rock fragments, fine sediment, and vegetative matter – ravaged a corridor of settlements along river valleys inside Nepal and simultaneously crossed the international frontier into China. Official figures now report a death toll surpassing 900, alongside a staggering number of nearly 5,000 people listed as missing.
