Flash flood warning in Texas due to Storm Edouard

Shafaqna English– Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border on Tuesday afternoon, bringing sustained winds of 60 mph and heavy rainfall after churning out of the Gulf of Mexico.

The storm came ashore near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, around 2:20 p.m. Central Time and moved westward into southeastern Texas, prompting forecasters to warn of flash flooding from up to 9 inches of rain along its inland path.

While Edouard is expected to weaken to a tropical depression by Wednesday, it disrupted power for over 4,000 homes and businesses in southeastern Texas.

Despite precautions at East Texas refineries, energy production was largely unaffected, with Shell reporting no anticipated weather impacts. Edouard marks the fifth named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, none of which have yet reached hurricane strength.
