Shafaqna English- Over the next fortnight, the monsoon is expected to deliver below-average rainfall to India’s western, central, and southern zones, threatening newly sown cotton, soybean, maize, and pulses, two senior meteorological officials warned.
The monsoon accounts for roughly 70% of India’s annual precipitation and is vital for recharging water resources in the country’s nearly $4 trillion economy. About half of the farmland lacks irrigation, and roughly half of the population relies on agriculture for their income.
