Shafaqna English– At roughly the break of dawn on Saturday(15 Aug 2026), a magnitude-5 earthquake rattled the Andalusian city of Granada. According to officials from the regional administration, the tremor caused observable destruction to both private homes and parked automobiles, yet remarkably, not a single injury had been documented in the immediate aftermath.
The epicenter was pinpointed to the greater Alhendin district, with the tremor striking shortly past 1:00 AM local time, which corresponds to midnight Coordinated Universal Time.
Airtime on the national broadcaster TVE revealed streets blanketed with construction debris and clear evidence of vehicular damage across the popular tourist hub. Elsewhere, Andalusian emergency personnel conducted rescue operations, safely extracting a number of citizens from buildings whose structural integrity had been jeopardized by the quake.
