UN: Taliban issued over 100 restrictive orders targeting women’s rights over past five years

The organization said on Saturday, August 15, that the Taliban’s restrictions affect various aspects of women’s lives, including education, employment, freedom of movement, access to health services, and justice.

Susan Ferguson, the UN Women representative in Afghanistan, said that Afghanistan is facing the “most severe women’s rights crisis in the world.”

The United Nations also said that more than 10.7 million women and girls in Afghanistan will need humanitarian assistance this year.
