The Argentine international departs the English capital after half a decade with Spurs, having worn the armband and become a central pillar of their defensive line.
Although neither club chose to reveal the specific financial terms underpinning the transaction, various British news outlets have reported that the transfer fee involved is approximately £34.2 million ($46.27 million). The Spanish side are understood to have paid this sum to secure the 28-year-old Argentine defender from Tottenham.
