Shafaqna English– In response to significant supply chain disruptions in the global energy market — triggered by the ongoing military confrontation between the United States and Israel against Iran — the Indian government has issued a binding directive dated August 13, establishing a maximum daily production ceiling of 63,810 metric tons for cooking gas (LPG).
This production cap applies uniformly to all refineries operating within the country, whether they are owned by the state or by private enterprises. The primary objectives of this policy are twofold: first, to safeguard the continuity and adequacy of domestic LPG supplies for India’s vast population; and second, to build strategic reserve buffers that can be drawn upon in the event of further supply shocks, thereby insulating the country from the volatility of international energy markets.
