Shafaqna English– AstraZeneca has decided to discontinue its final-stage study that employed a major experimental drug in combination with chemotherapy to treat a form of lung cancer. This latest failure joins a series of consecutive setbacks, drawing increased regulatory and investor attention to the company’s drug development portfolio.
A series of recent failures has made investors increasingly skeptical of AstraZeneca. These include the failure of Wainua in a heart disease trial, the rejection of camizestrant for breast cancer by U.S. regulators on methodological grounds, and the late-stage failure of Ultomiris for rare disease indications.
