Shafaqna English- The French Constitutional Council has blocked a proposed ban on social media for individuals under the age of 15, stating that it infringes on fundamental rights.
On Friday, the council ruled that the planned ban on youth social media, which was part of a broader legislative effort, violated these essential rights.
Critics had anticipated a probable legal defeat after a rushed legislative process. In response to this ruling, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to revise the flagship legislation by spring 2027. Additionally, the European Commission is expected to propose new European regulations in the autumn.
