Shafaqna English– FIFA announced on Monday(17 Aug 2026) that its Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Lamour, had departed from the organization. His exit comes just weeks after he openly criticized President Gianni Infantino’s proposal to sell a share of the commercial rights tied to the World Cup and other FIFA tournaments—a move that had sparked internal disagreement over the future of the sport’s revenue model.
Appointed to FIFA’s senior leadership group in November 2024, Lamour had previously been part of the trusted inner circle that worked behind the scenes to secure Infantino’s election as FIFA president in 2016. His departure therefore marks a significant shift, given his long-standing alignment with the president’s camp.
