Shafaqna English– In a Thursday(20 Aug 2026) interview with Reuters, the president of Colombia’s National Coffee Growers Federation confirmed that the country’s coffee harvest has so far escaped any significant negative effects from the powerful earthquake that struck agricultural zones across the western part of the nation.
German Bahamon, the leader of the federation, explained that although the 7.4‑magnitude quake caused widespread damage, coffee farmers are far more concerned about the severe weather patterns that typically accompany an El Niño year, viewing them as the primary risk to their harvest.
