Shafaqna English– The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported on Thursday(20 Aug 2026) that a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck the central region of Peru. Fortunately, local authorities have confirmed that there have been no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage resulting from the seismic event.
The USGS provided additional details, indicating that the quake’s focus was at a depth of 99 kilometers (61.52 miles), and its epicentre was situated 31 kilometers (19.26 miles) to the northwest of Aniso, a locality within the Andes Mountains, emphasizing the deep nature of this seismic event.
