Malaysia-Vietnam explore deeper halal supply chain cooperation

Shafaqna English- Malaysia is encouraging closer cooperation with Vietnam to integrate Vietnamese businesses into the global Halal supply chain, offering trade support and technical assistance to help companies meet international standards, according to VOV.

MATRADE said it is supporting Vietnamese firms through its Ho Chi Minh City office and the International Sourcing Programme, which connects exporters with Malaysian buyers. JAKIM currently recognizes five Halal certification bodies in Vietnam.

JAKIM also said it is developing an AI-powered certification system, expected to launch next year, to automate document verification and ingredient searches.

The cooperation comes as the global Halal market continues to expand. Malaysia is also targeting US$1.25 billion in sales at MIHAS 2026, with 2,400 booths from at least 45 countries and about 4,000 planned B2B business matchings.
