Bill Gates calls for ‘human-reserved’ jobs as AI reshapes employment

Shafaqna English- Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has called for certain jobs to be reserved for humans as AI and robotics advance, warning that many roles could disappear and governments are not yet prepared for the technology’s broad impact, according to the Guardian.

In a new essay, Gates proposed the idea of “human reserved” roles, comparing them with nature reserves where society deliberately protects areas from development. He cited healthcare as an example, arguing that some forms of human care and compassion should not be replaced by machines.

Gates also urged governments to develop a major domestic and international framework for AI, saying the technology will affect employment, education, taxation, energy, elections, public health, finance, transportation and law enforcement.

He argued that US-China cooperation will be necessary to address global AI risks. Gates also warned that although AI could dramatically improve education, excessive reliance on the technology could reduce critical thinking, particularly among young people.
