Shafaqna English– The governments of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have reached a mutual agreement to enhance their collaborative efforts in the areas of agricultural development and food security. This partnership is strategically designed to elevate the total monetary value of Pakistan’s agricultural produce and food product exports to Saudi Arabia to a target of 3 billion US dollars.
Details of the agreement were made public through a joint statement that was issued following the official visit of a high-level Saudi delegation to Pakistan, which took place from August 26 to 28. The delegation was led by Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and included senior officials from the ministry, the General Food Security Authority, and other relevant governmental organizations.
The core topics of the bilateral talks revolved around specific agricultural products and sectors, with particular emphasis placed on rice, red meat, and fresh fruits. The discussions also covered secondary industries including fruit concentrates and green fodder production, as well as the adoption of innovative, water-conserving agricultural methods that are essential for sustainable farming in arid climates.
