FAO: Farmers in Afghanistan face drought and water shortages

Shafaqna English- Afghan farmers continue to face severe challenges, including drought, water shortages, pests, crop diseases, and economic pressures, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). 

In a report released on Tuesday, July 21, FAO said that improving the quality of emergency agricultural assistance is essential to protecting rural livelihoods and helping farming communities recover from crises.

The organization added that, for the first time in Afghanistan, it has trained 19 of its technical staff on the Standards for Supporting Crop-Based Livelihoods in Emergencies and Disasters (SEADS).
