Shafaqna English- Police sources confirmed to Reuters that the Korea Football Association’s headquarters in Seoul were raided on Thursday(6 Aug 2026) as authorities pursue an investigation into possible “business obstruction” linked to the selection process for former coach Hong Myung-bo.
Hong Myung-bo took over as head coach of the national team again in 2024, having previously managed the side from 2013 to 2014. The decision to appoint Hong came under close examination after the KFA called off a months-long search that had involved interviewing foreign candidates, choosing instead to finalize his selection after only a brief discussion.
The controversy surrounding his appointment resurfaced following South Korea’s underwhelming performance at the World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
