Shafaqna English- Thursday(6 Aug 2026) saw the White House slap price floors and a 15% tariff on polysilicon products. Polysilicon, which is mostly produced in China, serves as the foundational material for both semiconductors and solar panels.
The proclamation, grounded in Section 232 of the 1962 Trade Expansion Act, is designed to shore up U.S.-based production of chips and solar components, enabling America to better rival China in the fields of artificial intelligence and energy.
