European shares remain subdued

Shafaqna English- European equity markets experienced a lackluster trading session on Tuesday(11 Aug 2026), with overall sentiment remaining subdued. The primary catalyst for this muted performance was a rebound in crude oil prices, which was triggered by the failure of diplomatic negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.

As these efforts reached a stalemate, energy costs climbed higher, putting downward pressure on stock valuations. At the same time, investors chose to adopt a cautious stance, refraining from making significant portfolio adjustments until a series of key economic indicators are released later in the week.

These upcoming data releases are expected to provide much‑needed clarity regarding both the trajectory of economic growth and the future direction of central bank interest rate policies.

As of 08:44 GMT, the benchmark STOXX 600, which tracks the performance of companies across the European continent, was trading at 659.84 points, showing virtually no net change on the day. The index spent the morning fluctuating within a tight range, alternating between slight gains and marginal losses.
