Gold traders on hold for US inflation report

Shafaqna English- During Tuesday’s(11 Aug 2026) trading session, gold prices experienced a notable surge, reaching their highest point in over two months during the early hours of the day. However, this upward momentum eventually subsided, and by mid‑session the metal had stabilized at a more subdued level.

The primary factor behind this pause in price movement is the market’s anticipation of impending US inflation data, which traders believe will provide essential guidance regarding the Federal Reserve’s future monetary policy, particularly concerning any adjustments to benchmark interest rates.

At precisely 1135 GMT, spot gold was trading at $4,386.13 per ounce, showing virtually no movement from its previous closing level. This calm, however, belies the intraday volatility that had seen the commodity surge to an intra‑day peak of $4,434.84 earlier in the session—a level not witnessed since the first week of June.

The pullback from this high suggests that traders are now exercising restraint, preferring to await concrete inflation data before positioning themselves for the metal’s next directional move.
