Shafaqna English- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has arrived in Baghdad leading a high-ranking parliamentary delegation to engage in discussions with senior Iraqi officials aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing border security, countering terrorism, and promoting economic cooperation.
Upon his arrival in Baghdad on Wednesday morning, Ghalibaf was welcomed by Adnan Fayhan, the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, along with other officials, as reported by Iraq’s Al Ahad TV network. During his visit, Ghalibaf is set to meet with key Iraqi officials and prominent figures in politics, economics, and culture.
They will focus on regional developments, the strategic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad, and collaborative efforts to promote stability and security in West Asia. Before leaving Tehran, Ghalibaf expressed that the Iranian delegation would aim to expand cooperation in various fields including the economy, politics, culture, social issues, and security. He also plans to meet with Iraq’s President Nizar Amedi, as well as several Iraqi economic and cultural leaders. Ghalibaf emphasized the importance of these discussions, noting the significant role both countries play in regional affairs. He suggested that the region may soon experience a new order, and stressed that this visit could provide an opportunity for enhanced coordination and cooperation between the two nations. Furthermore, the Iranian delegation will review the implementation of existing bilateral agreements and explore additional avenues to develop economic ties.
Ghalibaf is also scheduled to attend a ceremony in Karbala commemorating the 40th day since the funeral of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
He will participate in this ceremony as a representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, and will convey the Leader’s greetings, message, and appreciation to the Iraqi people for their involvement in the funeral proceedings.
